Every so often you get to sit at the feet of a giant. This week I share that seat with you.

Ambassador Andrew Young was at Dr. King’s side through the movement. He went on to serve in Congress, represent the United States at the United Nations, and lead the city of Atlanta as mayor, and along the way he helped write the playbook that turned civil rights into economic rights. He has also been my mentor and my friend for most of my adult life.

For an hour and twenty minutes we talk about what he learned in the rooms where history was made. How he thinks about money, power, and negotiation. Why he believes economics is the unfinished business of the movement. And the lessons he wants the next generation to carry that nobody is teaching in school.
