TIME named me to The Closers, its inaugural list of 18 leaders working to close the racial wealth gap, and then invited me to give a toast at the Impact Dinner celebrating the list.

I used the moment to say what I say everywhere: financial literacy is the civil rights issue of this generation. You cannot have a thriving economy while half the country is shut out of how money works.
