On Thursday, November 19, I will be in Charlotte as the Impact Keynote Speaker for United Way of Greater Charlotte’s 95th anniversary celebration, “In Our United Era: Celebrating 95 Years of Impact.”
Ninety-five years is a long time to keep showing up for a community. United Way of Greater Charlotte has spent them working alongside local government, businesses, faith communities, donors and volunteers to help lift people out of poverty and open doors to economic opportunity across Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg and Union counties. This celebration is built around the realities facing ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and the collective action it takes to expand economic mobility for them. That is work I care deeply about, and it is the heart of what we have been doing at Operation HOPE since 1992.
I will be joined by Majora Carter, an award-winning revitalization strategist, two-time TED speaker, MacArthur Fellow and Peabody Award winner. Nick Strudivant, WCNC anchor and host of “704 Unfiltered,” will serve as emcee and host. The evening is presented by Wells Fargo and sponsored by Coca-Cola Consolidated.
Event details: Thursday, November 19, 2026. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Goodwill Opportunity Campus, 5301 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28208. To learn more about United Way of Greater Charlotte, visit unitedwaygreaterclt.org.
