The Age of AI

AI wrote the opening line and it sounded just like me. The pain, the opportunity, and why AI literacy is a civil rights issue.
The Age of AI, a Money and Wealth episode with John Hope Bryant

The opening line of this episode sounds exactly like me, and I did not write it. I asked AI to open the show the way John Hope Bryant would, and it did. That small moment says a lot about where we are. The world is shifting under our feet right now, and my friend Van Jones may be right that AI is the great leveler, because almost nobody, of any background, truly understands it yet.

I did not go looking for this issue. A few years ago Sam Altman showed me an early version of what became ChatGPT, and I told him to make sure underserved communities were part of the conversation from day one. Not long after, we hosted him in Atlanta with HBCU presidents and civil rights families at the table. That night changed my agenda. Financial literacy remains the civil rights issue of this generation, and AI literacy now stands right beside it.

In this episode I walk through two lenses. First the pain: industries from retail and transportation to banking, legal services and health care administration that are being reshaped faster than most people realize. Then the opportunity: health care, green technology, cybersecurity, AI ethics and the creative fields, along with the hard and soft skills that will matter. I also explain why horses went from the most valuable asset in America to almost nothing in a single generation.

The future is not something we inherit. It is something we build. If you are not at the table, you are on the menu, and I want you at the table.
